Cart bagscarry bags - tour bags - travel bags
All things being equal, cart bags are larger and heavier than their stand bag equivalents. Since the carts do all the carrying work, these bags can be more generous in terms of the features offered. This means you'll get more compartments or dividers (a rigid, grid-like structure which keeps each club separate within the bag - see the photo below). So your clubs can be stored and retrieved more easily, and they'll also get more protection from damage within the bag. You'll also get even more pockets or holders for balls, accessories, apparel, umbrellas, towels, keys, coins etc. Cart bags have handles and/or a carrying strap for transport between car and cart, but they're not really designed for lugging around the course over your shoulder. Inevitably, convenience comes at a price - the cart and bag combination usually means you have to pay more than for a simple carry or stand bag. Typical prices: $120-180 for the bag alone. A typical cart bag - the Callaway Big Bertha. Photo kindly provided by the Golf Warehouse, who will also pay me some money if you click on the image and buy anything. |
