Carry or stand bags

cart bags - tour bags - travel bags

These golf bags are to cart bags what rucksacks are to suitcases. In other words, they're designed to be carried around by their strap.

For this reason, they tend to be made of lightweight materials, and some features may be sacrificed in the interests of comfort and carryability (if that word exists!)

So you'll find bags varying from simple "sleeve like" varieties with a couple of pockets, through to full-feature bags with the kind of compartments and extras you'd get in a cart bag (see the pictures below).

The carrying mechanism is usually a single or double strap, generally lined or padded for comfort. A stand bag also has a fold-out metal tripod-like mechanism (where one leg of the tripod is the bag itself) so you can rest the bag vertically. This helps keep the bag clean and gives you easier access to the contents.

These days, most manufacturers are producing stand bags, rather than carry-only ones.

Typical prices: basic carry bags go for tens of dollars, typical stand bags for between $70 and $200.
